Nowadays the Internet has envolved into a vital tool in our society. For that reason companies, government and public administrations invest many money and resources in this and its surrounding technologies.
Recently, the cantabric public administration was awarded by his proyect Cantabria Acorde.This proyect has provided wireless access to the Internet to the inhabitants and local councils of 18 small mountain villages.
In all Europe arise the known as Digital Cities, where the main objective is the contribution to the promotion and use of the technology by the great public through the implantation of services and infrastructures.
For the companies, the information technology by obvious reasons has become an indispensable tool: it offers greater and simpler means of communication, it opens new markets, is a transmitter of ideas…
It is necessary to consider that often the technology runs faster than its assimilation. So that the evolution of the technologies goes directed to the mobile part of the same ones: “the always connected man”, only is possible with mobile technologies, because of mobility and comfort. The wired network is more and more obsolete, and is unable to adapt to the new applications that arise rapidity.
The bad side appears with the big telecommunication companies, who invest in infrastructures and networks, but they offer scarce products or services, if any, that can really useful to persons. Considering the opportunities they offer, these applications have remained in the superficial part, offering simple and not useful content for the terminals, without investing in the many useful applications that can be implemented in the small devices. Few are the applications built upon location, and/or services of maps and cartography that allow to download maps of the zones where we are standing and to see routes or zones of interest, fleet of trucks tracking services… and endless of many other services which will be seen as a necessity in the near future.
These technologies are exploding in front of us, as the computers not many years ago. Life is mobile, mobile is the future.
